Please join the AIA WHV Chapter for our annual meeting and a panel discussion. Stephen Weinryb from HOK will present about enclosures with GGI as our sponsor. We will have food and drink. Please spread the word and attend. This meeting also serves to vote-in new Directors and to acknowledge those coming off the Board. Please join us for what we expect will be a spirited and informative discussion!

Establishment in 2005, Richard Gonzalez Architect, PLLC provides Architectural & Urban Design services to include research, analysis, planning and development. Currently, Richard Gonzalez Architects, PLLC maintains a diverse portfolio of work to include institutional, corporate and private clients. Recent projects include the renovation of a photographic studio production space in Williamsburg Brooklyn for Industria Superstudio and a new office renovation suite suite for Columbia University. The office assist various universities in campus wide upgrade and retrofitting construction project to include the City University of New York, New York University and Columbia University in the City of New York. The office also provides design services to private residential commissions within single family residences and multi-family dwelling units. Richard Gonzalez AIA is a licensed, registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). He is LEED accredited with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Lance Amato, AIA, Lance has experience in diverse areas of interior design and architecture. He is a partner and founding team member at CANOA, a technology based circular procurement platform focused on commercial interiors. He spent 13 years at Vocon's NY office, where he acted as Principal and managed a team of 60 architects and designers. During that time, he worked with major corporate clients such as Hines, RXR, Compass and WeWork. Prior to Vocon, he worked at well-known firms Stonehill & Taylor and FXFowle. As a dedicated member of the NYC interior design industry, he has held positions as President of IIDA New York Chapter and volunteered with several non profit event committees

Alison Spear, AIA, LEED AP, IIDA, has had offices both in Miami and New York City. Presently, she lives between New York City and the Hudson River Valley with her family. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University. Ms Spear is a licensed architect in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), International Interior Design Association,(IIDA), the New York Architectural League, the National Council of Registration Boards. Alison Spear, AIA received two American Institute of Architects Awards of Excellence and was selected as Interior Design Firm of the year. In 2004 Ms Spear was included as one of the top 125 Interior Designers of the year by House Beautiful Magazine. In 2009, Ms. Spear achieved her LEED AP certification.

Ms. Spear’s career began as a Junior Designer in the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill , the New York City office of Arquitectonica, a Miami based world renown architecture firm, and the studio of famed decorator Juan Pablo Molyneux. In 1989 she began her firm with her first project for Bright Lights, Big City author, Jay McInerney, published in October 1989 in House & Garden Magazine followed by projects for Francis Ford Coppola and Katie Ford, owner of Ford Models. In 1999, Ms Spear designed the award winning 20,000 square-foot Holly Hunt showroom in Miami Design’s District and in 2002. Andre Balazs of New York City’s famous Mercer Hotel chose Ms. Spear to revamp his Miami Beach 107 room Lido Hotel Spa. Ms Spear has designed many Upper East Side residences and downtown lofts in New York City, Washington D.C., and California. Other projects of note include a twelve story, sixty-six loft type residential condominium in Miami Beach for the luxury ‘New Urbanism’ development Aqua Island by developer Craig Robins. From 2013-2015 she joined Ennead Architects, (formerly James Stewart Polshek & Partners), to work on the Langone Medical Center renovations. From 2015-2016 she rejoined the New York office of Arquitectonica Intl. Corp as Director of Interiors, combining both her architectural and interior design skills to lead a new department. Presently she is working with Obercreek Farm developing a sustainable farm based community on a 250 acre family owned site along with other various projects including residential work in New York City and the East End of Long Island and an exhibition project for Olana, home and site of Hudson River School painter, Frederic Church. Her restoration and redesign for the family’s historic Hudson River Valley home was a cover story in the June 2013 issue of Architectural Digest Magazine.

ASSOCIATE AIA DIRECTOR (3 YEAR TERM)

Adina S Banayan, Assoc. AIA is the Jr Architect and Sustainability Manager for Promont's Development and Construction Group. She also works in Promont's sister companies: Latitude Compliance (ESG Local Law Compliance) and Smarcon (BIM Coordination). She graduated from Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture of CCNY with a double major in architecture and studio art, focusing on urban planning, sustainability, and climate change governance. Adina is a proactive professional that takes the initiative to be a part of the sustainable, regenerative and interactive future of architecture and construction. She volunteers for the Open Air Collective, advocating for net-zero and negative emissions local policies, and is on the AIA WHV Sustainability Committee.
